Modern. Music. Masters
The name “Tri-M” has a distinct meaning based on the 3 “M’s” within the name.
The first M stands for “modern”. When looking to the past, old art forms are recognized as contributing to what is considered “modern” in today’s world. By looking to the past, we work to effectively plan the future. As the years past, the society will be continually filled with younger members, and therefore this honor society will never age, but will remain modern.
The second M stands for “music”. Music is an art and communication form which has been used since before language was developed. It always has been and always will be important in our society. It is the duty of Tri-M members to carry on the legacies of those before them and continue to spread the influence of music.
The third M stands for “masters”. In the art world, the title of “master” is given to one with a high degree of proficiency. As members of Tri-M, students have demonstrated this proficiency in many areas, and it is the duty of members to set a good example and help those who may be struggling in the music department.
